BEIJING-- The high-performance, inexpensive expert system model released recently by Chinese startup DeepSeek has produced a wave of attention worldwide. DeepSeek-R1 appears to use efficiency that rivals alternatives from the U.S., but the business says it was developed at less than a tenth of the cost of those designs.
