Erectile dysfunction medications took in Glengormley

8 April 2011

Large amounts of unlicensed medications have been taken by Department of Health officials throughout a search of a home in Glengormley.

A man was interviewed by department officers about illegally importing and consequently providing unlicensed impotence medications through the internet.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medication offences.

He will now be the subject of a report to the Public Prosecution .

The search was brought out by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, said: "It is vital that we get the message across that unlicensed medicines can be dangerous.

"These kinds of products being sold, normally online, have undergone no quality control and there can be no guarantee about their safety.

"You just do not know what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More notably, you do not understand the impact drugs like this may have on your health."
